Leon W. Baldridge and João Verissimo met over a haircut. João, Leon's barber, shared his vision and the challenges he faced while he cut Leon’s hair. Leon saw how his marketing expertise could help turn that vision into a business. They began working together in a small office in the backroom of a restaurant.
Aura launched online in October 2024 with a wine shop and catering for private events. In March 2025, it opened a boutique and tasting room on Rua 1º de Maio in Tavira, with catering continuing alongside it.

Aura Tavira is a small wine boutique in the heart of the Algarve. We work with small producers and family estates from across Portugal, people who make wine because they love it. Four hundred bottles, one room, and a team happy to take you through the world of Portuguese wine.
99% of our wines are Portuguese. Portugal has 14 wine regions and 31 DOCs, from Vinho Verde in the north to the Algarve in the south. Almost everything we pour is born in one of them.
